Trying to keep healthy is not always easy....

Most moms would agree staying healthy and fit can be often very challenging when you have a full time job and young children.  I know celebrities like Gisele Bundchen make it look so easy. Most women would say it is easy for her because she has so much help looking good and staying healthy.  Although I do agree having a hair stylist, make up  artist, person trainer, a chef, would help all of us stay healthy and fit.  But for most of us those luxuries are not possible.  So what can we do to try and stay fit and healthy.  Let's start be drinking water. 100 percent the best way to keep healthy is drinking lots and lots of water daily.  With some many name brands of water like, Poland Spring, Evian, Fiji,Perrier.  How do you know which one is best for you.  I am not a Dr. so I really could not tell you which is best.  I would say however, just drink water.  Anything name brand you prefer really doesn't matter as long as you are drinking. What is the recommend amount of water each day, see below:

This is taken from the Mayo Clinic:

How much water do you need?

Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water.
So how much fluid does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total

Health benefits of water

Water is your body's principal chemical component and makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose an throat tissues.
Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.

Decorating the Tree.......

I am sure by now that most that do celebrate Christmas have decorated a Christmas tree by now.  Where do you get your ideas for your Christmas Tree?  Do you just create your own theme or do you look at magazines?  I would say my Christmas Tree is designed and decorated by my children.  We have ornaments that are made by the children throughout the years. We also have photo ornaments on our tree.  I got them at Kohl's a few years ago.

They look like this, click here I was not able to copy a picture:

http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1494101/st-nicholas-square-3-pc-holiday-frame-christmas-ornament-set.jsp

They are so cute and have many different colors and little face designs.  I think Khols,Home Goods & The Christmas Tree Shops are my 3 favorite places to shop at for the holidays.

Deciding on the lights for your Christmas tree and putting them on the tree I find is the most challenging part of decorating a Tree.  But I cheated and bought a fake tree that has white lights already built into the tree.  This way I can always add lights if I wanted to.  I can also not have to worry about fussing with lights on my tree.  Always a challenge for me standing at only 5 feet is reaching the higher parts of the Tree.  Of course, I use a stool but even on a stool it's still challenging for me.

Found a tree decorated with all white lights to share, this is one of my favorite color lights to use on a tree and throughout the house.  To me it just reminds me of the cold, winter, snow and Christmas angels.

Okay, I shared two really beautiful trees with you.  Hopefully this gives you some great ideas.

I wanted to share a special birthday with you all today.  My dear friend of over 20 years Mille.  I want to wish you a wonderful fabulous birthday lots of happiness & Love.

It's a snow day!!!

Woke up this morning to the pleasant site of the first snowfall of the season.  I already knew the schools were closed thanks to a 5:30 AM call from the district. Days like this I am completely thankful for working from home.  I don't have to dig out my car and drive on slippery roads.  The snow flakes are really big this morning. It's almost like the flakes are determined to cover everything in it's site. I took this morning to trick the kids in letting them think they overslept and missed the bus.  I went into each one of their rooms and said, "oh my gosh you are still sleeping we have to get on the bus".  The first reaction from the oldest was, "please I knew there was no school about two hours ago"thanks to social media site Instagram.

Moving on to the next bedroom, my son.  I say, " oh my gosh you are still sleeping we have to get on the bus".  He looked up at me and just smiled as to say, "I don't care and this is hysterical we missed the bus...YES!!! He didn't believe me and he also didn't really seem to care....boys..........Then I started laughing and said, "just kidding, look out side".  He was extremely happy to see all the snow.  Hopefully I can get him to shovel this morning.

Moving on to the next bedroom, my little daughter.  I say, " oh my gosh you are still sleeping we have to get on the bus". Her little eyes went really wide and looked at me like I was crazy.  Then she jumps up out of bed looking to do something to get herself ready.  Now, that is the reaction I was hoping and looking for.  She says to me, "are you serious", and starts moving around me.  I should have kept it going but I felt bad to keep it going.  So, I said........"look at the window",.............Her little eyes wide open says, "WOW that's a lot of snow out there there is no school"...........

Now they have this whole day to something productive or fun.  But they all don't seem to really want to get out of bed.  I mean who can blame them, this is a great day to sleep in.  When we all finally decide to get up maybe a movie is in store for us.  I guess the disadvantage of working from home is, I can't use the excuse I can't get to work today because the weather is bad and traveling will be dangerous today.  I don't mind I at all I will feel like I have had a more productive day when I get some work done.  My next challenge will be how to get the children to by somewhat quiet so I can actually get some work done.  A movie is a great idea.  Maybe they will want to watch Frosty the Snowman?  They use to love this movie when they were younger.  Here is a clip below:

This is such a classic fun movie.  I use to so look forward to watching this when I was younger.  Of course now you can download this movie at anytime whenever you want.  I remember when I was younger I had to wait for around the holidays to get to see this movie.  Imagine waiting a whole year to see a movie.  Kids now have all this technical and easily have more access to anything within an instance.
I am sure Frosty The Snowman will not be the movie for today.  I think the kids are looking for a movie more like the Hunger Games.  I don't mind I love this movie and just saw the second one in the movies.

Let's go with this photo for today, very fitting for the day!!!

Let's get the kids cleaning today......

It's a lazy Saturday morning when I decide to try and get the kids cleaning.  Why waste a perfectly great morning just doing nothing when we all pitch in and clean.  So here is how it is going.  My oldest, the teenager is still sleeping.  The girl takes sleeping in on  Sat. to a whole different place.  It's almost Noon and is clearly happy wasting the day away.  Then we have my son.....I love that right now I am watching his cute little self use a Swiffer broom on all the hard wood floors in the house.  However, he was suppose to finish his homework first.  Let's see should I let him continue to clean and neglect his homework.  I say yes, FOR NOW!!!! Next we have my lovely little twin girl who has the Windex in hand and is cleaning all the windows and mirrors.  We all know how we HATE to do windows.  Well at least I do.  Here are the cleaning crew:

They look awesome ready for more cleaning.  What else can I get these two cuties to do today.  Maybe try and get their big sister up out of bed and helping......chances of that today look like it's not happening.

Now the twins are onto to organizer their rooms, cleaning off their dressers with stuff they collect.  Their school has a school store they seem to go to every week but it's more like twice a month.  Either way they seem to AlWAYS have some extra $$$ to spend at the school store.  They come home with what I call dust collecting junk items.  The kids will call it special stuff......they come home with stuff like, small erasers.  These erasers they don't actually use they just collect.  I have to say some of them are really cute and creative.  I took a picture of a few.

These are a tape casset and yodi erasers:

These are just one bag of erasers my daughter has:

Here are a skate board and a cupcake:

And of course my favorite of all Chocolate:  (Love this one) Look good enough to eat!!!

Back to clean, have a great day!!!

Let's talk about make up!!!

What women does not love make up?  Watching the latest trends daily is something I really enjoying doing.  I love to see the new styles of shoes, bag, clothes and especially make up.  I mostly wear MAC. I found MAC has so many types of textures to their make up.  I also love their foundation.  Only foundation that really works for me.  This makes my skin look flawless......See below:

There are several different shades foundation comes in and it has SPF15 which protects you from the sun rays. Here is an exact description of this product:

A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium, build able coverage with broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15 protection. Applies, builds and blends easily and evenly. Comfortable and long-wearing, helps minimize the appearance of pores and imperfections, giving skin a smoother, more flawless look and finish.

I gave you the description in purple, which happens to be this season hottest color in eyeshadow.

MAC also has their holiday make up line with great glitter and shine. I would wear the purple shadow with a gold glitter to make it really stand out on your lids.  MAC also has great sales on most of their holiday make up kids. You can mix and match a kit of four different colors for the holidays.

Let's make some Shrimp!

Today's Blog is all about Shrimp.

Let me start by sharing a very simple receipe using this lovely shrimp above. This will work for frozen shrimp or fresh shrimp.  I usually buy shrimp that has been cleaned or frozen.

All you need:

Lemon
White Wine (any kind, even store bought is fine) _( I added a link to show the kind I use)
Parsley

cook all these ingredients together including the shrimp and let it come to a boil for 10 minutes.  I usually serve this over linguine but white or brown rice works just as good.

I use Barilla Pasta when making this dish.

All done, yummy!!! Let's eat.........

Today's daisy color is indigo:

Are we still shopping?

When do we stop shopping for the holiday season?  Do you really think the prices will get even cheaper as the season goes on.  Do you think the stores will offer better sales then they did for Black Friday?Who knows? Does anyone keep track of this stuff?  I am sure there is a website of some sort that notifies you of items you are looking for at a lower cost. I did a search for such an application and here are the websites I found:

http://www.pricewatch.com/

http://www.pricegrabber.com/

Both of these sites have great price finder for all types of products, such as electronics, furniture, jewelery, clothing, shoes, handbags.
